Any tips to opening the bonnet on my 54 plate vrs guys. Got the mot in a week and it needs a new windscreen but unfortunately that can't be done as we found the bonnet won't open. The lever in the footwell doesn't appear to have much tension in it but if you wiggle it about enough you can get the bonnet to open the first stage...but the little lever under the bonnet doesn't appear to be connected to the bonnet release cable grrr!

 

What do we reckon my best way in is, remove grill, get underneath etc etc? Is it a known problem?
