Whilst looking under my car I notice a silver cover on the drivers side with blue pipes running too and frow, what is this for (guess protection) but what does it protect. Thanks

As stated it's a fuel cooler, but I believe it's for the return to the tank so that will explain why it's needed.

It is indeed a fuel cooler for the return, pd injectors run a high pressure which means high temperatures, the fuel needs to be cooled down before going back to the tank.

Ahh, return.
