Does any one use the above. I joined but immediately and accidentally breached three rules and got suspended for a month. A pity as I wanted to buy off the site - it's some much more friendly here.

I'm on AVforums. I joined about 5 years ago when deciding on which mini-Hifi to buy. I used to post quite a bit there (mostly in General and Motoring sections) but not been on for a while.

Really good forum and classifieds section has some great bargains too

And people moan about here .....

I wanted to buy a set of headphones so pm'd the seller asking if he could contact me so I could pay. In doing so I evidently broke three rules. As a newbie I failed to realise it. The guy has lost the sale now as I found the same thing (B&W P7 headphones) elsewhere for £30 less and with a more secure payment method.

I don't really feel I'll go back to the forum, they seem a bit anal :-).

The 'phones are fantastic, they beat everything else I've auditioned .

I wouldn't dismiss the site too soon. The rules may seem a bit anal but they are there to protect both buyer and seller as best they can. I try to buy and sell there rather than Ebay these days and I've never had a problem.

Aside from the classified section there's loads of helpful information on the rest of the forum about most things and as here, there is usually someone who is willing and able to help.

So how are you meant to contact someone to trade with them then?

Good job we don't have that in the classifieds here. It'd be an empty place

I am a regular eBay seller and buyer and it has Ben foolproof over the last 10 years I've used it. The two problems I've had, eBay has refunded me immediately and told me to keep the (faulty) goods.

I was willing to,prove address etc. but the moderator concerned was more interested in banning me than advising or helping, so, as good as it may be it's left a very sour taste.
