Chaps, VRS CR registered Dec 2011. What's the current up to date situation with remaps? Lots of conflicting information on researching this and would love a clear answer from the decent folk on here:-)

 

I spoke to Brotek, very helpful and seemed decent:

 

"Thanks for the enquiry. Unfortunately your car has a locked ECU and so needs the ECU removed from te car and benc remapped. This is something I cannot do atthe minute as I am still awaiting hte software to do it.

I can however supply you with the next best thing which is a DTE tuning box which is basically a remap in a box giving slightly more bhp and economy gains and is a plug n play device which you can fit yourself. I have sold alot of these due to the locking of ECU's by the manufacturers.

The box is slightly more expensive than a remap at £420 but I have had no negative comments from customers after fitting.

In response to your other question. I have remapped about 30 vRS's but slightly older than yours (both PD's and early CR's which were unlocked)

Hope this info is of use to you and if you decide to proceed with a tuning box please give me a call."

 

but on speaking to another place was told it was no problem?

Just had my 2011 1.8 tsi remapped with a revo map. Done via obd port. Revo said its heads or tails whether the ecu needs removing to flash it.

Mine didn't.

Very happy with the results.

A 2011 CR170 will need to have the ECU removed. Shark Dealers who have invested in the correct equipment can carry out this task for you, unfortunately BroTek haven't yet decided to do that.
