Hi all I have a 08 plate octavia vrs diesel just woundered is it easy to put columbus in my car and what's the different in the versions? At mo I'm looking at a rns 510 with 2014 maps on eBay? Is this an easy mod? Just want get it right so I no what I'm looking for?

Also what's difference in mfd2 and mfd3? Is one a better version?

What u mean bout what version for the Bluetooth?

At mo I'm watching this one on eBay 111356396190 that's the number for it, don't no if anyone has used this guy before but says its latest maps and can watch tv on it!!

Also some I've looked at say 30gb hard drive and others say 40?

And does it read the maps from cd like the mfd1?

Is there a write up anyway to some 1 who has already done this?

Just to add to Mike's response the BT modules that appear in maxidot are limited. The cheaper ones only connect in RSap mode only which limits the phones that work to Nokias and Samsungs, or rooted phones. IPhones don't work. These are 5n0 035 730 a/b/c (but not d or above). They do not support streaming.

You can get modules that work in HFP mode with all phones but these don't show in maxidot. These are 5k0 035 730 d or above and 7p6 modules, which work with a suitable headunit such as a Columbus. These also support streaming.

There is one module 1z0 035 729 b which works in HFP mode and shows in maxidot but this is expensive. This doesn't support streaming either.

I'm afraid its a bit of a minefield but collectively we can advise!!

Cheers for advice both of u but I don't get what this bt module is ?! All sounds quite complicated, to be honest I'm not fussed about having phone working just be happy tho have the sat nav the I the maxidot display, it would be nice to have the phone aswell but if it's to complicated!

My maxidot looks like the ones in mikes pics but so far I don't no what else it does as I haven't had time to read up on it!

This bt thing is this anouther version of maxidot u have to get or anouther controller to make the Bluetooth work?

The BT module is another separate controller that goes under the seat or behind the Columbus. It has a wiring loom which piggy backs off the plug for the Columbus and a mic which runs up the A pillar and across the headlining to the roof light.

Right I have the car and I love it

Really want get my columbus but couple things stopping me !

1 I have a parrot in the car, came with, and it works with my

Works with my phone and comes up phone on the radio so I think that was put in right!

And 2 the rear parking sensors seem to be link to my radio aswell as it brings up a little pic of a car and some lines for distance ?

Will either be affected if I fit a columbus ?

You will lose the car picture unless you also upgrade the parking controller. See:

To be honest the loss of the picture is more than compensated for by the Columbus functionality.

I imagine the parrot will still work though.
