A VRS, An Old Volvo & Some BL Tat

As I've already stated elsewhere I'm not a Skoda owner myself but we do have one in the family so I thought I'd post up some pics of "the fleet"

I'd love to own an 850R

ZT 260 for me, have fond memories of being taken out for one, spent most of the drive sideways lol

An interesting mix there.  If they'd put the V8 in the ZT-T then that'd be an ideal family load lugger for our family.  I quite like the colour of the estate too.

There's actually only 1 car amongst that lot that I wouldn't want.

Aww, my parents had an 18/85.  And an Austin 1800 just before they decided to go posh with the Wolseley.

Went to buy an 850R once and was rather surprised at the limited front legroom for us taller folk - I couldn't drive it.

Gaz

Which one?

loving the 850R and the V8 :) (MG)

Is there something wrong with me? I'm 20 years old and if you offered me the keys to all of those I'd take the 850R!

The Skoda?

The Skoda?

I couldn't possibly say..... :D

There's a rouch supercharged engined saloon somewhere in Yorkshire, it goes to the breakfast meet quite often. Think it's at 440+

I think the MG ZT-T 135 (CDTi) would be my first choice.

One of the prettiest and cosiests cars Rover ever produced imo.

Still has a classy up to date look even now imo.

Wish Rover was still in British ownership.

Ever seen the leg room in the back of the Wolsley/1800 range btw!?

Probably as much as in the Superb.

Yeah, I've seen him there a couple of times.  It draws quite a crowd when he's got the bonnet up with folks crowding round to see what's crammed in there.  It sounds lovely too.  I agree with Mr Ree that the estate is a nice looking car, much better than the saloon by a long way.

The Volvo or the MGs for me.

I tried to buy a ctdi ZT, but couldn't find a good one :(

Thanks for all the positive comments, here's a little history behind the cars,

The Wolseley came along in 2003 when I'd just bought a 6 year old Volvo 940 Turbo, the very next day my mate phoned me & said he had a car for me, I showed very little interest even when he told me what it was, I mean I always quite liked the Landcrab but would never have gone out & bought one, but it was when he uttered these magic words "It's free to a good home" that my ears pricked up & I went along & got it.

It took very little recomissioning & I ran it for 12 months but the front wings which had been stuffed full of bodge a few years earlier had started to burst so it came off the road for a quick rebuild which is still ongoing 10 years later.

The Rover 2000 came along in 2004, I've always been a bit of a P6 man (among others) & this one ticked all the boxes despite not being very original, I ran it for about 3 years until the heavily disguised rotten inner sills finally failed the MOT so it came off the road for major surgery & again has never returned.

The ZT-T, I bought this back in 2009 as a replacement for the aforementioned 940. There were several reasons for this purchase, Volvos were just a bit too strong money for my wallet at the time & I'd always loved the Rover 75 since it's launch back in the late 90s. I had searched for the "right car" for a few months & finally spotted a stunning 53 plate 75 Tourer in dark blue with rare blue leather & I fell for the car but & it's a big but I was borrowing the money off my parents & they were on holiday & the car sold in the meantime. So a bit despondent I started searching again & this car turned up on ebay & to be honest I didn't like the colour (the photos did it no justice) & also it had the most chavvy alloys making it look like one of the Hotwheels Blings range, but it was cheap so I had a tickle & won the auction. I fell in love with the colour straight away, it's a rare colour from MGRs Monogram Programme (an expensive personalisation range) called Orange Grove & is one of only 12 cars finished in that shade. I have since added genuine MGR alloys & done a few subtle mods to make the car the way I want it.

The 850R well I'm also very into my Volvos & my mate down in Essex kept telling me of this car which belonged to a friend of his family, it was a bit used & abused as it actually worked for a living as a plumber's van. I got an email one day back in 2011 asking me to get in touch urgently so I did & he said "How would you like that 850R for not much more than £100?" well I didn't have to think for long & said ok offer him £150 & the message came back that I was now the proud owner. I've spent a fair bit on it to get it up to scratch & still have a fair way to go but I've enjoyed doing it & I love using the car.

The ZT 260 was an accidental purchase, I was out scratching round the local scrapyards & saw it in the "keepers" section of the yard with a broken headlamp & a smashed front bumper................thinking it was just a run of the mill Zed I thought Ooh that might be a good little earner, but as I approached I spotted a couple of clues as to what it really was so I casually enquired about it & went about my business. That whole weekend I couldn't get it out of my mind so I went back & bought it. It was an easy repair & was soon on the road & I have had some fun with it though it's not a pleasant car for everyday use.................it's a bit heavy to drive.

Aye I know it, it belongs a lad called Nigel from Malton

Really like the write up about the cars, sounds like you were in the right place at the right time for those vehicles!

Quite an accidental purchase it was too!  That was a real find, did the scrapyard not realise what it was then?

They knew it wasn't run of the mill but didn't know quite what it was
