1.6 cr v 2.0 cr dpf problems

Featured Replies

Does the 1.6 cr engine have more reported dpf problems then the 2.0 cr? My uncle has a 1.6cr monte and he has read that they suffer from dpf issues? I said the pd does but didnt think the cr did as much?

There are far fewer DPF problems these days since the move from PD to CR diesel engines.

All it takes is one post from an owner suffering DPF issues then all of a sudden it's a 'common problem'.

Having suffered DPF issues in the past (old PD170 in a vRS) then I focus in more on the DPF related threads and it has to be said there are very few issues with wither the 1.6 or 2.0 CR engines.

As I have previously commented, I am of the opinion that the 1.6 diesel installation was "designed from scratch" to be compatible with the DPF fitment.

Unlike the earlier PD diesels where it was a mid life retro fit "bodge"

I could yet be eating my words, but despite a reasonably DPF unfriendly driving regime, it has given me no trouble.

Car now just approaching 60,000 over 3.5 years.

BUT substantial periods where I merely drive to work = 3.5 miles and stop.

repeat journey at lunchtime and stop[

ret after lunch and stop

then go home and stop.

A total of 14 miles daily  in 4 seperate journeys.

And bytimes the car does not stir at all over the weekend.

My sister-in-law lives on Jersey and purchased an ex-demo Rapid 1.6 CR.  In 12 months she has driven less than 3000 miles, never exceeded 40mph (well, 40-ish) and the longest journey has been 15 miles.  Most journeys have been under 4 miles.  Much to my amazement she has suffered no DPF problem.

Before buying my 1.6 TDi CR I asked a work colleague if she had any problems with her DPF (Yeti Greenline 1,6 TDi) - her reply said it all for me "What's a DPF?"

I had a failed sensor at 5k miles and apart from that - nothing in 11k miles over 1yr.  Like dieseldogg some of that is 5 days of home<==>work (8 miles each way) and the weekend in the drive.

Seems a bit pointless buying a diesel for that driving regime.

i bought my superb in september last year and havent had a problem with the dpf

Had my CR Blackline since Jan13 from new and done total mileage of 6,000.

No problems whatsoever with DPF and never seen any threads on Briskoda talking about the 'problem'.

My 1.6 had EGR/DPF issues from about 57000 miles / 3 years. Dealer covered repair under goodwill so no real reason to complain about it on the forums.

Many issues are from cars build in 2010/2011.

Mine is from 2010 with 95k and remapped. I drive to work , about 20km each way, and road enough to clean out the dust
