Does this really help with oil consumption 1.4 16v

Featured Replies

Hey guys, ive been reading about the web and the forums about the old problem of 1.4 16v engines using oil like its going out of fashion. From ready different posts and websites, ive found that using 98 super unleaded fuel can help stop the engine using so much oil. As well as this using oil additives such as Wynn's Super Charge Oil Treatment can help reduce the consumption.

Do these methods actually help prevent the issue? As don't want to be shelling out money if its not going to help

Cheers in advance as always I know your information will be helpful.

Using super plus unleaded is essential, not so much the oil treatment, just change the oil and filter regularly with decent quality oil and spank the car regularly and take it on longer runs.

Thanks for the quick reply, I will be filling up with the super unleaded from now on, I take the girlfriend back and forward to uni on the weekends so that's the long runs sorted, as for the spanking, that wont be hard after ive dropped her off!  :D

Is there anything that may need cleaning around the engine, which could help improve?

Keep the engine breather and throttle body clean, change the spark plugs and leads (if you have them) every two years or 20k.

Im guessing its relatively easy to keep the breather and throttle body clean?
