I just had a thought :wonder: Is there a topic/ sub fora in the tech shed where members can recommend free software?

ie; software that's free to download and use legally.

Guides on installing so you don't end up with 'mydefaultgophishimagesearchtoolbarexstensionyouplayer' as your default search provider?

A sort of silver surfer dummys guide?

I like that a good idea maybe something similar to product review set up within detailing section

yeah I spose :) There's plenty of good free software out there but some of it is bundled with crap you don't want.

It's not all that intuative to install some free software without the crap sometimes so a list of what's good and what to avoid plus tips would be good I thought.

Just quickly did this, needs improvement but it gives a rough idea

Let me start it off with a shareware program that I've been using for eons that is used as a file manager - Total Commander from ghisler.com.

If you don't register it then you only have to put up with a multi choice click at the start to still get full capability. As a tip for first time users, don't forget to save both the configurations (settings and position) when you've modified it to your liking!

If you get stuck with anything though, just ask.

Cheers, John.

Jeez I've got hunners of the buggers.

It's going to be hard to keep up to date and hard to search for what you want.

Are you going to trawl through 20+ pages of posts of random application until you find the sort of thing you're after?

If someone can start one with a mahoosive message about no hacked, warez etc I'll pin like the Android and iPhone threads
