Hatch small design flaw

Featured Replies

when the cars been stood in the rain does anyone else get annoyed when water spashes/drips/runs off the sides of the hatch into both sides boot area especially onto the parcel shelf side mount plastics ??

Difficult to stop this I know but surely a SIMPLY CLEVER solution couldve been designed ???

This isn't a design flaw, skoda has cleverly engineered it into the design since the mk1. It's to let blind drivers know that the car and is wet so possibly the road could be too

Mondeo do that too. Frustrating.

I'm yet to encounter a hatchback that doesn't do it to a degree.

Stop polishing the car and the glass!

Beaded water makes the problem worse, as mentioned above I too have had it with all hatchbacks I've owned.

Not ideal but opening the boot slightly slower than normal allows the water time to run off the glass before the boot is opened enough to allow it access to the interior.

A common complaint on both the MkI and MkII forums so clearly an issue Skoda have yet to find a solution for (or not deemed annoying enough to bother spending time/resource on).

I have a similar problem on my estate due to having had a ceramic coating put on. All the water beads up and when I open a door, no matter how gently it causes it all to avalanche off into my car. Made me chuckle this morning as it all went sloshing on the rear seat when I put my bag in the back.
