Lock up/garages - where to find?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm looking for somewhere to keep my E30, as there isn't really space at my house, and I'd rather it was kept dry too, and both of our garages are full already.

I've tried searching on Google/Gumtree, but not really had any luck finding anything. I've also tried driving around looking for farms with barns, but again, not really much luck. I've got one place on the cards, at £40 p/m with power and loads of space to work, and it would be ideal, if it wasn't 45 minutes away :(

Any other suggestions on where to be looking, or does anyone know of anywhere local to Aylesbury (or I guess Oxford) where I could keep it? I found one place which was £130 a month, but that's waaaay more than I want to spend.

Cheers,

Joe

Local self stores. I kept mine at one of my local ones. £18 a month including vat. It was outside but they did offer me an indoor space with power for a little bit more.

Thanks, I don't think any of ours are likely to have anyway big enough for a car, but I'll have a look.

I've some garages in Oxford that I drive by each day for ~£60 a month too. I'd save that on fuel, so that looks like my best bet ATM.

Just had a look, and there are 3 places in AY that can store cars. Just need to pop down tomorrow and check for prices/vacancies.

Thanks for the tip there! Heres hoping it pans out.

Pleased to help. None of the places I tried listed cars as something they did but a quick email and pretty much all of my local places would do it.

I popped down today. They won't take a car as one couldn't hold it, and the other declined on grounds of flammability (makes me wonder what they do store given most furniture burns...)

Either way, it's over £460 a month, so no! I could buy a new e30 each year for that!

Ah well was worth a try! Sounds like my £18 a month was a good deal!!!

My local council have some for rent on a monthly basis but I've not had a chance to phone and ask how much they want.

Might be worth a try.

My local council had nothing, but Oxford (where I work) have some for around £60 a month, which is the best contender atm.

Yeah, an amazing deal! Or I'm looking in all the wrong places.

Have you some local shops around your area? they often have a row or two of garages for rent, either Local Council or private owned.

I have one 100yards away from my house £50 a month. Another idea is rent a garage from someone near to you that doesn't use it, a little ole lady or bloke.
