Centre Section Removed

Featured Replies

As title. Had this removed today to compliment the Miltek. What a great little mod to transform the sound of the VRS. Car sounds nice and throaty on start up and not to loud when driving at normal pace. Put your hoof down and it gives a cracking growl. Best £70 I've spent in a while. Flow has also improved as has the whistle from the turbo and SC as they have increased in volume.

Phil.

Thinking of doing this on my Monte, (the delete, not a chavy back box) I don't know of any where local to get it done though, Inverness really is cr4p!

jonro2090,

You have Motorsport Car Clubs all around you and car events,

and some very good Garages that do car preparation all along the Moray Firth.

As above. Plus any decent garage should be able to do this mod. Cost me £70 all in.

Phil.

I didn't know bitz did this. I live round the corner from them! I will give them a shout next week. Should have asked the 'gravel grannies'

Booked into Bitz at end of month. They are going to make up some flanges for it so it is a bolt on bolt off mod for warranty and services etc. Won't commit to a price until it's on the ramps but they reckon around £80 which is OK.

Do you reckon it will make much of a difference noise wise on a 1.2?

£80 is OK. Not sure noise wise. Don't see why not as it is very restrictive IMO.

Phil.

Fingers crossed. I don't want anything loud but a discreet low rumble would be good

That makes interesting reading, thanks. Not sure if I want that much noise, the centre delete seems to be the choice for deristriction and a little more noise. I certainly don't want to be heard 'blocks' away

Trust me, you won't be.

Definitely need to get this done! Need to get this bloody rust patch done first though :-(

Judging from the rest of the thread, I think that particular poster meant that it would NOT be heard from blocks away, but missed a word.

It's going to be a case of do it and see what it sounds like I reckon. Would anyone strongly advise against it on the 1.2tsi as a waste of money? I don't want to remove the rear box, it's not something I want to do.

If you want to hear what it sounds like with the rear box removed, Jack your car up, undo the middle clamp and disconnect. This leaves just the resonator left then start it up n hear what you think (this assuming it's the same layout as a vrs exhaust)

I haven't been underneath so I might give that a go, thanks

At least you will be able to put the Exhaust back on and only be down some money.

Its going to sound like a 1.2 TSI with a Centre box removed, and thats unlikely to be a good noise.

Its going to be show with no more go.

But i look forward to being proved wrong.

The VRS is only a 1.4, granted it has a SC, but it sounds good with the resonator removed.

I guess there is only one way to find out!

Take the plunge and post results :-)

Any news on how the 1.2 sounds with the resonator removed? Thinking of getting mine done?

  • 3 years later...

I know it's a bit late but here's mine in case anyone wants to know, 1.2 tsi with just middle silencer removed
