also whats this I hear about a trim piece that is needed?? where would you source this, is there a part number?

Hate to say "do a search" but .... Topic covered in many posts over the years. I don't run DD.

 

Trim piece required £3-£5 from Skoda. Or there are aftermarket options from Autoleads etc. The Skoda one is a simple oblong plate. The Autoleads more of a surround.

No Adaptor kit needed

the gap in the dash is already double din it's just filled with a single din stereo and a single din tray

As Vindaloo says all you need for an after market stereo (single or double din) is the OEM trim to go above the stereo
