Will this go into my 150 turbo?

Featured Replies

Would this be a straight fit into my PD150 turbo? If so what else would be needed to fit it as mine has started making a slight siren noise

Are you sure you haven't got a leak on your new piping somewhere?

Definately a siren noise and it's blowing a bit of white smoke out

Definitely a siren noise and it's blowing a bit of white smoke out

Smoke would seem to indicate something a little more complex than a slightly fragged compressor. IMO get a replacement PD150 and maybe recon your existing one at a local turbo place.

If it is your turbo worn it's the bearing and core that will need rebuilding, not a new compressor wheel, may need a compressor wheel, but that's not the cause of the noise/wear.

I know the wheel won't need changing I was just wondering if it was worth putting this in while it was in bits? I've sourced a rebuild kit from turbo rebuilds

I assume the rebuild kit is a complete CHRA with 'wheels' on it already, why then would you need a different inferior quality CNC'd 'billet' wheel?

Have it made hybrid Tom :)

I don't fancy forking out £650 when I need I clutch also mate haha :(

You realise turbo rebuilding is a specialist job, not a normal garage job?

Even if you find someone willing to fit that rebuild kit the turbo will need to go and be balanced by a specialist, who might not be willing to balance it and put there name to it if its a home rebuild.

:) possibly because you said standard size vrs front brakes were better than 312mm ones, and you've upgraded your rear brakes and left the fronts standard? :)

you're a ******* bell end you mate. I said standard vrs front brakes with brembo discs and Ferodo DS front pads will be better than standard 312's, which obviously they will be.

What's this little thing you've got with me and my rear brakes? I've been running them over 2 month's now, not had one single problem with them and I was on track on Monday and they worked perfectly fine? I suppose if you read something on a forum like you have it must be right thow I guess?

Please refrain from commenting on any of my future threads because your input isn't worth a nut you clown.

I'm not going to sit and argue with you like a child, if you've got a problem with me drop me a PM and we'll sort it out

Cup of tea and a pack of hobnobs at the ready here like lol!

312mm brakes are way better than standards with any pad disc combo, just the brake feel alone is worth the upgrade

Each to their own I guess, I've driven a mates Ibiza cupra With AP's on the front and we both agreed mine were better all round, so I can't imagine standard 312's being better than AP racing calipers, I will eventually put the 312's on when my discs and pads are done but for now I don't see the point, they stop brilliantly and they don't fade :)

Technically this is interesting because I've noticed how hard my Fab is on it's back brakes and mine is much lighter than a VRS and only has 256mm discs at the front. I've had this before with the other VW's I've owned, they were all very hard on the rear discs, none more so than the Sharan VR6 I had when the kids were young which would eat the rears at an alarming rate when driven enthusiastically.

I think Tom may have a perfectly valid point and a decent setup which will only be improved by fitting 312's when he gets around to it. I'm thinking of changing to 288's when mine are ripe for replacement since there must be loads floating about on the web, I don't want 312's because I don't want 16" wheels.

Totally off subject but I dont think 256mm rears and 288mm fronts will had any adverse effects on a car, a mate has run that setup before, all be it on a polo. As for the 288 vs 312 argument, it's interesting and I think it'd all come down to use. 312mm setup gave a little more initial bite I found BUT stock pads getting smashed will fade after a few laps of HARD use on a quick car. DS pads are fantastic, no fade and when twinned with decent discs no warp issues either. Although the 312 disc will offer slightly better cooling I think the DS pads will cope better with abuse, plus they save on un-sprung weight. Stock brakes with top notch discs and pads will be better than 312s with boggo discs and pads. All IMO of course.

And you ask why I presume your stupid when you post total rubbish like that!!!! :)

My brembos with crappy discs and pads were awful, the bite was still there but they didnt stop you very well past that, until you know what discs and pads were in the AP setup I dont think it's possible to comment either way tbh.

he drove my car I drove his, both couldn't believe the difference in the brakes, I expected the AP's to be 10x as good but mine were better. Weather his discs and pads were about shot or it had never had a fluid change I don't know, but that's what we BOTH agreed on. Not rubbish at all, whatever I post you disagree with me anyways.

like I say Matt, I definately know they weren't performance discs or pads, so it probably will have been they were about dead but on the day we drove both cars, mine were the better out of the two :)

Turbos....

he was trying to stop you spending few hundred quid rebuilding your turbo to find it self distructs the first time you boot it. Pebbling your intercooler piping with shrapnel I spoze.Or leaking oil and making your car turn from diesel to a duel fuel with no shut off ;)

Better to point a stupid fact than have a stupid mistake ;)
