VCDS Error P0102 - 55 Plate 1.9 TDI BKC ENGINE - HELP! ASAP PLEASE :)

Featured Replies

Hi All

I got 55 plate 1.9 TDI BKC ENGINE, and keep getting error "emissions workshop!" although car has power, turbo kicks in well, fuel consumption as normal just an annoying yellow engine management light on dashboard.

Plugged it into VCDS/VAG.COM got the following error:

Fault Found:

16486 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70)

P0102 - 000 - Signal too Low

Freeze Frame:

RPM: 798 /min

Torque: 29.3 Nm

Speed: 0.0 km/h

Load: 0.0 %

Duty Cycle: 65.3 %

Bin. Bits: 00101111

I cleaned out the EGR VALVE, cleaned the maf sensor inputs.

Double checked all wiring for breakages.

Swapped the sensor with a genuine from dealers working one.

Still no luck!!

Deleted the error, however after restarting the car on second go the eror on the dashboard returns with the engine management light

Dealers are wanting £49.99-£69.99 for a diagnosis to find the culprit and are not free until end of week, which will be last resort....

ANY SUGGESTIONS/HELP/HINTS TIPS ANYONE ANY HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED

Thanks all :)

Seem to be bambuzzled with this bizarre error code and dont really want to pass the car to dealers to say change maf sensor again..

Thriple checked all fuses.. And all is well..

Can you unplug the EGR valve and then check the g/s of the MAF on live data at idle - report your findings

After replacing the egr valve with a genuine new replacement the findings from the MAF are as follow..

Live data for M.A.F showed 365.51 on pulling away then throughtout test showed 0.00 then pulling up showed 87.42..

I take it that the loom and plug for the MAF are all OK ?

Loom and plug all seem fine and in contact..

Well that doesnt look right if your showing 0.00 with the engine running.

Best to redo the test - unplug the EGR valve and give us the reading at idle in g/s

Unplug the EGR drove for about an mile still showing 0.00gs with the live data on the computer

There you go then, that's no good.

1) First thing to check is that there is 12v at pin 2 on the MAF sensor (shown as item B30)

2) Second is the resistance of the wiring between the pins of the MAF and the pins on the ECU in turn (both sensor and ECU disconnected)

3) Third is to scope trace the sensor to check for a 5v output with varying frequency as rpm rises
