Starting Query

Featured Replies

1.9 Tdi, starts fine on cold start, when warmed up and then starting after a trip to the shops etc it some times takes a couple of extra turns on the starter. Vag-Com showing 3 x glow plug errors and cam position sensor error. Could this be caused by a bad battery ? Jumped the car cleared the codes drove it round and there were no starting issues or reccurrence of codes, leading me to suspect the battery ?

Yes, the battery is usually the number 1 cause of this.

Either battery or the cam sensor.

When the engine is warm the enging has to turn over at a certain RPM or it will not fire. This failsafe is disabled when cold.

So either the engine isn't turning over fast enough due to duff battery or the sensor isn't detecting the RPM properly.
