Fitted recaro style into the fabia today

Featured Replies

So I'm slowly making my car look better inside and then it will be onto performance mods, used the pasty boy guide and fronts are great the rears however will be a pita as I have bought the ones with a fold down armrest so I'll need to have a think about what my plan is there anyway here's a few photos so you can see4avuhade.jpgy2y2unap.jpge7u9atab.jpgavu2uter.jpg

Cut the mounting brackets for the arm rest off of the original metal back and weld them onto the fabia backs.

Thats what i'm looking to try, the mounting brackets just screw off so wont need cut, its just getting them welded onto the fabia back, because the fabia back is smaller i will need to cut some foam and material somewhere just trying ti figure out what looks best

I thought it was easiest to swap the foams over to the fabia metalwork? then you would only need stitching redoing anda bit of a foam reshuffle

That's the case for the ones without the arm rest but because my fabia didn't have an arm rest and I'm trying to fit one then it becomes harder than that

  • 2 weeks later...

are the fronts easy to fit in? remove bolts, remove old crappy seats then put recaro style mk4 golf seats and bolt straight back in?

and the rears do they fit straight in too If it didn't have armrest?

im hoping to change mine in near future

**** me, those seats ming mercilessly! Get them cleaned before posting piccies!

short answers to your 3 questions are: no, no and no

have a read of my conversion thread which details it all out

but in essence you need to take the foam and material from whatever donor you have used and put it on to the metal work of the Fabia so you can bolt it back in.

the fronts are easy as it all fits, the rears are a pain as you'll need to trim the bigger foam and material to fit, even more of a pain if you have an armrest to battle with

Welcome to the Recaro fold OP

Its not easy but its worth it, and usually cheap(er). Best thing I ever did to the car TBH, close second to the 17s Spiders and mild lowering, you don't have to do a lot to the car to approve it a lot.

I'm most pleased with mine as they are leather colour coded to the car too.

My only haggles now are how long til I need to replace the standard clutch/turbo ! Bit of a guessing/waiting game lol. Worth bugger all now though and I'm moving house, allowing for more offroad parking space so might keep the car indefinitely now
