auto speed wipers (just discovered)

Featured Replies

stopped at the lights with my wipers on and it slowed to intermittent mode and sped up again when I drove off!

I bet you all already knew it did this, but it made me look twice this morning!

:)

Yes it's a nice feature, also the rear sweeps when put in reverse and the windscreen wipers are on.

A nice touch but then it makes you wonder why some stuff is lacking which are basics, like a switch for passenger window on driver side and something to pull up the rear hatch shelf. A few more I guess but we've been here before. :notme:

I guess something like that is already programmed into the ECU so it would actually cost money to remove the code! whereas a wiring loom running from driver to passenger window would be quite costly.

I miss variable intermittent like my Octavia had :(

we discovered it a few a month or so after getting ours in september

Ah, but you do have it apparently, even it it's not directly controllable by the driver.

"Periodic wiping is dependent on the driving speed. The faster the driver is going, the more frequent the wiper action."  Good news eh?

Hasn't happened on mine. Town or motorway it's still the same intermittent speed. It's too long gap.

The quote was from page 34 of the Citigo Owner's Manual PDF under the  i Note heading.

It was some time ago now but now I have seen the above I did think that the periodic wipe did seem to change in frequency, when on the motorway. I thought maybe not at first, will have to check next time I use it.

Hmm.

Thanks for that. Now I pray for rain and a motorway drive now :)

Mine definitely changes speed, although it's quite subtle away from very low speeds, weirdly I only noticed yesterday driving home in heavy rain.

hhhmmm... i might be getting the stop watch out at some point and doing some testing....

I miss the variable intermittent too. Don't suppose it would just be a case of swapping the wiper stalk with one that has the variable switch on and a bit of coding would it?

Features like this please me greatly. I had a smart car which showed its Mercedes heritage with lots of nice touches. I traded that in for a Toyota Aygo which was very basic indeed although the same price as my Citigo Elegance GreenTech. Now I have the Citigo and and I'm finding lots of user friendly things, like how the interior light stays on for a while when you first get in the car and stays on when you park up and switch off the ignition, the wiper features mentioned here and a generally much more up-market feel. Nice.

Never noticed it did this. :)
