Columbus WiFi / Data not working - refused by

Featured Replies

I have a Colunbus with MaxiDot. I have recently fitted a rev D bluetooth module.

It works fine with maxidot, bluetooth, calls, texts etc.

But, when the phone is connected in rsap mode (shows Premium Bluetooth) the data gets turned off on the phone.

I understand that the solution is to create a car WiFi hotspot in Maxidot, and connect the phone to the car hotspot.

It doesn't work...  I get an error on the Maxidot "data connection refused".  Yet, the Maxidot shows "3G"

What am I doing wrong ???

If i did not misunderstand you; you say that there was not wi-fi menu in your maxi-dot, right? And you activated the wi-fi menu via vdcs, right?

In our situation we have wi-fi menu in the maxi-dot when we choose phone mode as "premium". We can make adjustments also, it gives a password, we enter it to phone, phone sees that SK_Wlan, with that password phone can connect car's wi-fi; wi-fi signal on the phone is very strong, but we can not connect to internet via our phones.

You understand me correctly. Have you entered the details of your apn in the settings. In other words, I mean your phone's data profile.

Actually i am not very familiar with the terminology. What do you mean by "apn" or "data profile"? Can you explain in detail?

Its basically the settings you apply to your phone to enable it to use data. Effectively it tells the phone the carrier of the data service e.g. o2, vodafone or your provider in Turkey. There is a setting for apn and you can google it for your provider. Here it is for O2:

The module needs the detail as it is not read from the phone by the bt module.

Adam

I controlled my phone. There already exists it, there is no need to create a new apn. I think the problem is something different.

I mean on the module set in maxidot. Its on the phone but needs to be set on tbe module too.

I misunderstood. I will try. Thank you.

That may well be the fix!  I assumed that the RSAP would read the APN settings as well...

I'll give it a go when I am back from work and report back

Thanks!

Success!

Thanks Adam, I would never have guessed that I would have to manually enter the APN

Yes rSap does not read that part. Good result, glad its sorted.

Adam

I can't see this option? I've entered the APN but no joy?

Is there a wifi option in the maxidot menu?

Is there a wifi option in the maxidot menu?

No. I can specify the APN in the phone "Data" settings, but I have not seen a wifi option anywhere, either in Maxidot or on Columbus.

It maybe your unit is 3c8 .... a/b/c (not d?).  Only d suffixed units can do the wifi hotspot on the maxidot, but I believe the a/b/c units can do something similar with an app on the phone or something, and hence have the option to set an APN.

If it is a d unit then it may not be fully coded.  I had this problem on mine when I purchased it and had to manually add 0101 to the end of the long coding for the phone module in VCDS before the wifi menu would show up.  I discovered that on a German VCDS website which I translated using google translate.

My Part number is I've got 3T0035680K, following my recent firmware upgrade to 5270. The hardware version shown is H61.

Sorry, that's your Columbus, I was on about the BT module under the seat...

Ah. I don't know then. I'll have to look for a label.

I have not tried yet but i have questions. How will i enter the values for the apn settings in the maxidot?

@adamal; you are great man! Successfully connected, no problem. Thank you very much.

Another problem now:

I can receive sms, maxidot shows info like "new sms", it tells me the sender but it does not show the text, maxidot shows "sms cannot be displayed" and it does not read out the text.

Any idea?

Not so sure about great!!

No problem, glad you sorted it!! Well done!

Is it every text? I wonder if its been received as a MMS??
