FL VRS Seat bases.....

Featured Replies

Is it possible and if so how bigger job is it to swop the front seat bases over.

Drivers side to passenger side and passenger side to the drivers side

Thanks

Don't know how big a job it would be to swap the bases over but the seat are pretty simple to remove.

Whats the problem with the seat bases, would it not be possible / less time / easier to repair the (I assume) drivers seat base.

On the seat base theres the bit that sits nicly against your right leg, every time you get into the drivers seat it gets pushed down by your left leg and then your right leg as you are sliding into your seat, therefor it's got rather squashed.

If I swop the seat bases over it would end up next to the jumbo box on the passenger side and the untouched side of the passenger seat would end up next to the drivers door. the bits that never get sat on are the ones next to the jumbo box so there in good nick and not squashed

Does all that make sense ?

Makes sense, I don't see why that wouldn't work.

I've developed a technique to enter the car that means I barely touch the bolster when getting in just to avoid this potential issue.

Video of you getting in and out then Silver please.

That could be tricky :D

Most of my body weight stays on my left foot for as long as possible until the reducing strength in my leg means I simply fall onto the base rather than dragging my arse over the bolster :D

Yep. Got it. Sounds like a lot of work, let me know how you get on.

I changed my drivers seat base as it was partly collapsed. There was a guide on how to dismantle the seat a while ago in the octy mk2 forum. It's not that hard, does take an age though. Since you don't want to separate the cover from the base it shouldn't take too long.

The hardest part is clipping the edge of the cover back to the seat frame.

For a time scale, took me about 4 hours to strip the seat, the base cover and get it all back together.
