VRS very laggy with S2K air filter

Featured Replies

Morning all,

Put an S2K filter on my BLT vrs the other day, but I cant help but notice how long the turbo takes to spool all of a sudden. Has anyone else had this problem?

Air leak or MAF issue IMO.

Does it go into limp mode at all?

Did you put the vacuum pipe in the filter?

Yeah, vaccum pipe is in the air filter, there are no leaks, and the MAF is pretty much brand new. Car was running fine before I took the standard airbox filter combo out.

The car does pull more top-end, as it used to stay around 110mph for a while then slowly climb. But now with the S2K filter it sails on past.

Its just a bit annoying that it feels laggy round town

Mine feels fine after fitting the S2K mod that's a BLT too, can you hear the turbo spooling and fluttering?

Shouldn't be causing a problem at all, yours isnt running 300bhp or something daft as these are rated to about 250bhp. Cant think of any other reason other than what others have said

Heat soak especially on a hot day like today

I got this with a Pipercross panel filter on my 2006 vRS. Went back to paper pretty fast!

I've read somewhere on here that the standard air box is designed to improve low end/off boost torque so removing it for a cone filter will likely make the car feel a bit laggy round town.
