Transport wax on new cars?

Featured Replies

Hello. I am doing the details on my new car myself and have asked the dealer not to touch the paintwork. I have found out reading other forums that there may be transport wax left on there. I assumed there would be no coating on a new car. Is it strongly possible it will have this wax on it. If so what's the best way to remove it before beginning my regime?

My Citigo arrived with plastic film (they call it a "foil" I believe) on upward-facing surfaces (ie roof and bonnet) and no other paintwork protection.

You could ask your dealer if this is the case for YOUR model...you may be concerning yourself about something that isn't relevant!

Thanks checked today and they said it may come with wax on. I said if it dies can they remove it but I dont want swirl marks. I will be checking carefully when I collect.

Probably better to find out how to remove it yourself. Once the swirls are there they have to be hidden or removed. Best not have them inflicted in the first place.

Too late already in process. If I see the swirls I will reject the car.

Shame....I think you'll find that it will be fine and you wont need to take to the extreme measure of rejecting it for a few swirls

They are fairly easily removed anyway

Transport film residue is more likely to be present after a PDI rather than swirls IME
