Should I order now or later?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am an Octavia owner who needs a second car for the family as a run around etc....

I spoke to my dealer (early stages of discussions) & he suggested 2-3 months from order to delivery . I am planning on getting an SE variant of the car for October time.

Is this figure realistic or is it more like 4-5 months +.

I'd rather order a car now for October or rely on the dealer & order it in August only to find out I will not get it until 2015.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts/replies.

Hi Mark

My car, ordered a little ealier this year, took 8 weeks from order to driving off the forecourt. I know others have waited longer in the past, but there seems to have been a shortening of the waiting list, unless my dealer had pre purchased a car then altered the spec once he got an order.

Chris

I,d order it now if I was you.

My wife ordered a Seat Mii Sport last Saturday and the dealer phoned today to say it was in and could be collected next Thursday! She ordered the Mii because she couldn't get the options and colour she wanted in a Citigo.

Fred that is mighty quick. It suggests to me it was already in the system & possibly just moved to your local dealer. It's food for thought as if a dealer has a similar spec in their system it might that quick for me too.

I think 8 weeks seems a fair time to wait from factory to dealer. I will speak with the dealer later this month & see if I can order from factory or see if he has one I want in the system already in UK. That said once you've ordered it wether its 4 or 12 weeks its too long! :nerd:

Mine took 12 weeks more or less what was quoted. So if ordered now you will get the Sept new reg plate.

Not sure if the delivery dates are sooner now on the Citigo but I was in the dealer last week looking at a Rapid, he said up to 12 weeks on those, you'll get it for the Sept reg plate if you order within the next few days. Still making my mind up :notme:

Look at it another way, if you want it for October, you have nothing to lose ordering it now, but stand to get it later if you order closer to October.

8-12 weeks, depending on what options you choose I think

Mine took 16 weeks and was an Elegance with sunset glass and entertainment pack.  It was finally collected January this year after being ordered in September!

Mine took 8 weeks from order (late March) to driving it home (late May) and was a factory build.

You could be right Mark. When we were looking before ordering I asked the dealer about delivery times and he quoted 5 weeks.

Even that seems to be a lot shorter than Citigo or UP so maybe Seat have more available.

PS Wife was shown new car this morning and was most impressed.

Loads of very low mileage demos in stock and you can save some money.

No doubt there will be in Sept /Oct, when new reg changes take place.
