Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo clean.

Featured Replies

Well the neighbours son got a new car a month ago and was shocked at just how bad the dealer prep and completion was on it so I've been asking him if I could sort it all out for him. It's a nice little car and I just couldn't keep passing it the way it looked so friday I see him and he says he's going away for the week and here's the spare keys have fun.

Now friday was a hot day and with having a black roof it was a no go but couldn't keep my hands off, so set about cleaning the wheels, went straight for the Bilt Hamber Autowheels and my trusty ValetPro brush and Wheel Woolies and a stiff nylon brush and some 10:1 dilution of Bilt Hamber Surfex Degreaser for the tyres and wheel arches. 40 minutes later and they were looking pretty good and thought I'd set about the engine bay with the Autobrite Jaffa Clean and brush and loads of microfibre cloths (underside of the bonnet was a PITA due to the nooks and crannies but the Jaffa Clean made the job a lot easier, the thoroughly wiped down and dressed with 303 Aerospace Protectant.

A few hours later in the late evening I set about washing and cleansing the car.

Two snow foam lances (one Gtechniq Gwash the other Bilt Hamber Autowash)

Bilt Hamber Korrosol (for iron removal)

Autofinesse Oblitarate (for tar removal)

Bilt Hamber Surfex Degreaser (for door gaps and panel joins)

Autobrite Jaffa Clean for door shuts

First was to snow foam with Autowash, allow to dwell while I went round all the gaps and joins with the Surfex and a brush then pressure washed off. Refoamed with Gwash and washed down with a bucket and microfibre wash mitt. Pressure rinsed and allowed to dry off while I looked at the state of the body work, etc... (paint was in pretty good condition really, just general tar and iron deposits that really let it down), sprayed with Korrosol and allowed to work before pressure washing off, sprayed with Oblitarate (the best tar remover I've come across so far and I've tried a few), allowed to work then gently agitated and reapplied where necessary and wiped over then rewasged with Gwash via foam lance and thoroughly rinsed and allowed to dry off.

Saturday was off due to the weather but it was only showers here and there. Sunday morning  (6am) was starting to look like a good day so thought I'd get started while it was cool.

Gave the car a wipe down with Gtechniq Panel Wipe then proceeded to apply Gtechniq C1.5v2 to the car, then cleaned the glass with Gtechniq G6, polished windscreen with Gtechniq G4 then wiped down again with G6 before going over all the glass with Permanon Glass RTU (cleaner and sealant in one spray), gave the car another coat of C1.5v2 and buffed. Wheels given a coat of Gtechniq C2v3 and tyres and trims with Gtechniq T1.

Quite pleased with the outcome really.

Excuse the photos from the potato cam.

Great work..... car looks very nice indeed!

Such a shame, the level of dealer preparation.

All too common these days unfortunately.

Hi,

Lovely job; it's sparkling now and I bet your neighbour will be well pleased with your efforts; well done.

Kind regards, Col.

Cracking job ..and....as Steve says..its a great shame Dealers cant prepare them properly

BUT....many owners wouldn't even notice TBH

I wish you lived next door to me! Very nice work.

Thanks guys. Before he got his permit to park in front of the house it was parked at the bottom of the street and I spent some time I guess you could say stalking the car. Glad I did. White can be a PITA but worth it I think and the fleck in the black roof really popped also.
