Right I have a mk1 VRS octavia and the key fob is looking a tad worn.

I can get a newer fob with the boot opener button, I can get it coded as well but will the boot popper button work with the lock mechanism I have or is it a mk2 thing only ?

Apparently it does work but it wont pop the boot up, it will unlock it seperately to the rest of the doors

As above, it'll unlock the boot on it's own independent of the doors. When you shut the boot, it'll automatically lock itself.

That's fine just as long as it pops and I just have to lift it then it's fine

It doesnt pop. It will unlock. You then have to pull the handle to pop it yourself
