Superb idea or a waste of time

Featured Replies

I am thinking of swapping my 53 plate octy vrs estate 14,000 miles in very good condition, no mods for a superb pd 130 custom anyone any ideas on the prices I should be looking for i.e

If I can convince my gf to buy my Fabia then I'll be getting a Superb, but thats not for a few years.

I cant see any reason why the Superb shouldn't be a good towing machine, its the same engine you had before I believe?

If it was me, I'd be looking at the Elegance spec, but then I'm a bit of a gadget freak :D As Richard said, Superb should be fine for towing as it's the same power as the Octy with only a little bit of extra weight. Only real disadvantage I can see of it, is you lose the extra height of the boot in the Octy estate but I guess this will be less of an issue when (if!) the kids fly the nest ;)

My Superb had a towbar on it when I bought it - made by Witter. I noticed somebody was selling them on Ebay - claiming to be identical to towbar for Passat - if so should be plenty of choice. Witter are a good well known make and normally cheaper than manufacturer's prices. Having said that I notice Skoda list 4 different ones ranging in price from

I have a tow bar on my Superb, its the Skoda one, which just happens to be made by Brink, with a removeable swan neck. Brink list it as Superb/Passat...so make of that what you will.

Superb should be good for towing, even has a higher nose weight limit than the Octy 1
