Hi

My name's Chris and I'm probably one of the older members at 60.

I'm a fan of VAG cars and have owned quite a few VW and Audis over the years.

I'm looking to change my old Fiat Stilo 1.9 diesel, which whilst still a good car (though  needs a  couple of things fixing) it has the driving position of older Fiats i.e. suits the longer arm/shorter leg driver. With me being 6'1" it is OK but more leg-room would be better.

So I've started thinking about alternatives, bearing in mind it is a second car/runabout I didn't want to go too mad cost wise, which rules out Golfs and A3's (which would be nice) etc. as I want something fairly new. Given that I'd prefer to stick with the VAG brand I thought of Skoda and in particular, the Yeti and Fabia.

My only knowledge of Fabias is seeing them on the road and being fairly small wondered if there would be enough room. So this morning I had a run across to a local dealer to check them out. Tried out a fairly new one and was pleased to find there was plenty of room and having a look round I really warmed to it, so job done. Which was good, because the Yeti, nice as it is (love the looks) is just too big for my needs.

The car I looked at would be ideal, 1.6 tdi, couple of years old, lowish mileage and good spec. but I'm not really in a position to buy until next month. But my mind's made up that is what I want.

Cheers, Chris

I doubt it! Welcome to the forum Chris. Sounds like the furby will be well suited for your needs

Thanks for the welcome.

After posting I took some rubbish down the tip and saw a Yeti there.

Mmm, I thought, didn't look as big as on the dealer's forecourt, so maybe not quite out of the running yet!

There was a Scout at the dealers, which I like the idea of, which was reinforced by a silver one I saw at the supermarket an hour or two ago, which looked very nice.

Decisions, decisions!!

As an aside, when walking back to the Stilo a nice looking car caught my eye which turned out to be a new vRS estate in silver. I know I'm preaching to the converted here :D but that is one fine looking motor car which I hadn't really taken much notice of before.

I've always considered that VW with the Passat (I've had three) were next in line after Audi (for that size/type of car) but with the new vRS it makes me question that. Skoda really are going from strength to strength and making it more difficult to choose.

Well, looks like a Yeti is definitely in the frame now!

I'd got a 13 month old A6 Avant, which whilst a lovely car was spending a lot of time sitting in the drive, so I changed it for a TT Roadster! :D

I now need something a little bigger than a Fabia really to replace the Stilo so have started looking at what the dealers have got in the way of Yetis.
