Wolds Rally - East Midlands Area

Featured Replies

Im competing on the Wolds Rally at ex RAF Swinderby, just off the A46 between Newark and Lincoln on Sunday if anyone fancies a watch..

Starts at 9am and runs till 4pm ish

If you come over and make it to the service area, say hello to me - car 51 - the white Nova in my avatar.

Paul..

Paul, there's only 30 entries at Hixon...... ;)

Hi Paul,

I may pop in for a look, not been to an airfield event for a few years but have fond memories of Chris Mellors & Chris Asquith doing battle at Lindholme (Before it was a Nick!!).

It may even start me wanting to dig out my Maps & Potti ! (Used to Nav. in the EMAMC Night Rallies).

So I may see you on Sunday (If the Wife does not go into Labour!!)

Graham

Paul, might see you there. I understand legend et al are out so it should be a good spectate :D

Erik, Be good to see you this weekend... will Hixon run with 30-40 odd entries then?

If the car survives this weekend I may decide to do it - is it the Sat or Sun?

Missus is coming up from Darn Sarf and going home on Sun evening,.. told her I wasnt doing any rallies on Sat so cant really make it if Sat..

Bandit - good entry for the event as of a couple of days ago - see below

Some interesting cars in there, inclusing two Skuds (a Felicia and a Favorit). Spotted a Darrian as well - long time since I saw one of those.

Good luck!

Hmmm I think Mr Simpson and Mr Stone will be fighting that one out then. It'll be interesting to see how Aiken goes compared to Railton too.

Should be fun :D

Hixon's Sat I'm afraid :(

Possibly.. but dont hold anything against newbold as that new cars supposed to be quick and he drove it well at Fulbeck, albeit against lesser machinery (IMHO)

How did you get on? More class trophies?

I know Legend won and that Ron Aiken made a mess of his 'box and the bodywork

Had a decent day but suffered with my brakes from ss3 to ss8..

Seems Ive fecked a master cylinder (front) which is binding and causing the brakes to overheat - the temperature gauge I used on the discs was off the scale 10 mins after I came into service - and it goes up to 300 deg C. Trying to press the brakes harder meant I bent the actuator rod for the rear master cylinder and the brake linkage too... Boiled the fluid in the fronts too.

Think we finished 4th in 1600cc class in the end - but did SS7 with brakes so bound on that I had my foot jammed under the brake pedal to pull the master cylinder out a little and did SS8 with virtually no brakes at all which was interesting.

I feel I would have been at least 3rd in class if not higher but hey ho, had a laugh anyways..

Paul..
