Decided to swop my iPhone for a HTC One M8 and I'm a bit confused which is the MDI lead I need?

 

A USB one or a micro USB one?

 

I need to extend it to reach where I put my phone, so does it matter which one I get?

The MDI leads are quite short so you're probably better to get a USB one and then use a USB-A to MicroUSB-B cable to connect it to your phone.

Presumably you are talking about transferring data (sound & images) from your old Apple iPhone to your new HTC One M8 - how does MDI enter into this?

 

ps - you are quite right to be paranoid about absolutely anything to do with Apple

Id agree with phil. That should be fine i think .

You can also get an mdi extension cable if your still struggling.

Iphone stuff is encrypted in annoying ways. Other phone manufacturers dont use this. So you should be alreet .

Thank you, I just had to have a complicated setup for my iPhone 5. Mdi then official 30 pin extension then 30 pin to lightning adapter. If you didn't use high end / official stuff it wouldn't transfer data. Seems android is easier.

Yeah thats just apple. Since they went 'lightning' and digital they can tell which products are genuine. Its a shame.

I bought a charger off ebay and it wont work :(.

Everything has to be apples way. Its always been the same :(.

Yeah it's annoyingly expensive for just cables, think I spent about 70-80 quid on that setup.
