New mobile phone suggestions

Featured Replies

I think the marketing for the RT is very naughty, I have had to point out the same issue mentioned by Aspman to several people I know who were thinking of buying one.

They all changed their minds and bought something else - RT is a lame duck.

  • 8gb a month is pretty huge. You won't find many other networks that'll let you have that kind of limit. WTF are you downloading?

  • Might be worth getting over that old impression the Moto G is cracking value. I'm not keen on Samsung personally because I think they come loaded with a  lot of rubbish you can't remove. If I hadn't

  • If you're looking at an iPhone you might want to hold on for a while as the new models should be being announced soon, this will hopefully bring the cost of the older ones down or give you a chance to

Martin, take a look here:

IMO one of the best phones out now is this:

And they've just released the Moto 4g a few days ago, unbeatable for the price...

I was considering a Moto G last year but two things that put me off were lack of a memory card slot and lack of 4g. Now there's a version available with both of those features I think it makes the G unbeatable for the money too.

I have had an iPhone since the original GSM iPhone was released back in 2007, and previous to that used a selection of 'smartphones' including the Nokia 9300 Communicator & Sony Ericsson P900 but seriously lacked the ability to 'sync' between my phone and PC (when I used a PC).

The iPhone changed all that, and also the mobile phone industry a much needed wake up call, as I believe that mainstream manufactures had lost their way and run out of ideas.

As said above, the iPhone 6 is due in Sept and you may be able to pick up a 5s cheaper than the current cost offered now.

Sure, the iPhone has its limitations in the Bluetooth field, but I can live with that as it offers other benefits that takes the steam out of the Bluetooth issue.

Whatever you choose, you should be happy with it........keep us informed as to final choice, so we can tell you you've made a HUGE mistake :giggle:  (Only kidding)

That's one of my concerns. Can an iphone do rsap with my car?

No

No

Well that's the iphone out of the equation. Not even the iphone 5?

Whats rsap???

Remote sim access. On my car it means that the car takes over the sim and uses the car antenna for stronger signal. Also means I can see texts on screen.

Right, well I've just ordered an Experia Z1 compact only to find that it doesn't do RSAP either. It seems Sony bypassed that trick across their entire range.

So - smallish Android phone with RSAP compatibility please? What about the Motorola phones? [grimaces]

AFAIK only Samsung support RASP.

I'm not sure what the need is. Is there a specific reason it must be a rasp capable handset?

Texts and making use of the car's built in aerial. AFAIK on HFP you only get the signal the phone can get.

The aerial isn't used unless you have an aerial plate as fitted to the mk3 Octavia.

Texts, unless read out by the car, will shortly be banned from being displayed to the driver as I understand.

Well, when my S3 is connected to the car in Premium mode, I can maintain a signal in places where I can't just using the phone.

You may well be right about banning text readout. It would make sense.

Just root the Sony and install the files and it will connect to your Bluetooth. Had the same issue with my nexus, but with rsap app in the playstore, everything is good now

If I do that, I won't be able to use Sky Go, as that doesn't work on rooted phones. Thanks for the suggestion though.

There is a version of sky go on the xda forums which works on rooted phones :)

I'll put in a good word for my LG G2.

And for unlimited Internet on a 3 network monthly contract, you automatically get 4G at no extra cost where available

3 are without a doubt the worst, most unreliable network it has ever been my misfortune to use.
