Recommend clean / wax routing for slightly lazy person

Featured Replies

I like a nice shiny car.  But I don't have the time/inclination/effort to spend hours each week on it (plus I have my wife's car to do as well...)

What would be the best wax/sealer to use - something that can be applied by hand and doesn't take hours to remove residue.

On my last car, I used Meguiars NXT Tech Wax (but not as often as I should), and wash with NXT wash.

Is there anything better to use these days?

An all in one cleanser/Polish followed by a couple of coats or a hard wax such as Collins.

A bit of work but it'll need doing 2 maybe 3 times a year at most.

Forget the traditional route, you want new tech :)

Use Gyeon Bathe+ Shampoo

Rinse

Then spray on Gyeon Wetcoat onto the still wet car

Hose off with pressure.

Dry

Congrats you just applied a durable 3 month durability quartz coating in about half an hour.

Best routine possible if short on time (in my opinion)

Pay Chris to do it? Ha!

Did I mention that I am also tightfisted as well :)  And Bedfordshire to Yorkshire is just a bit too far...

I reckon I can cope with a wax every few months, so I'll look into getting some decent wax (collinite 476?).

Would there be any advantage in also using Wetcoat or similar on weekly washes?

I'd recommend optimum optiseal. Really easy to apply, just spray on then use a foam applicator pad backwards and forwards over the paint work a few times. No buffing off which is always the hard bit. Topped up with some sonax bsd every now and again and you can't go wrong! Simple!

OK, I have decided I am going to be slightly less lazy :)

How about:

AutoGlym SRP / Collinite 476

twice a year - spring to get it ready for a shiny summer, autumn to prepare it for winter.

I've got half a large bottle of Megs NTX shampoo - OK to use, or is it likely to strip the wax?

And what about Halfords Demon Shine post wash - is this any good, or should I avoid and order something better?
