Best way to deal with building dust?

Featured Replies

Have you tried writing to complain to the builder- if it's one of the national ones a letter to head office wouldn't go amiss- IIRC they are supposed to use dust suppression techniques to keep the polution down. Good luck.

Yep definitely write a letter to one of the top bods at builders. I'd be looking at a car cover or similar myself. If you can get good ones that have a low scratch risk. Would be making someone else pay too!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have been in consultations with the building managers the last few days but to no real outcome. My workmates are peeved too. One of them went out to luch today, saw the state of her car and got out her phone to take a pic. In a matter of seconds the phone was covered in loads of dust. Just had another rant when i got to my car this evening. The builder came and had a look. See photos below. If it is doing this to the car who knows what it is doing to our lungs. I am sure the dust is coming through the air con at work. Will be emailing the builders, environmental health and local newspapers later with these pics. Obviously the car pics will be for a reference to show how much dust is accumulating in 1 working day.

I have sonax npt and sonax bsd on at the moment. Is it worth me adding some supernatural hybrid over the top for more protection?

Wow that's actually crazy! I like you would be very mad and would also be putting a complaint in but, I also would find somewhere else to park in the meantime.

Feel for you mate, hope it gets sorted for you.

You could do, however I think your car will be protected as long as there is no gust of wind that creates a sand blast lol. When I comes to washing though I would take extra care not to touch the paint work with anything. Just blast it!

Unfortunately there is no where else to park. Parking is tight near work, nowhere near within miles. I am in a lose lose situation because there is no other way I can get to work (no public transport nearby and too far to cycle).

Thanks, will snow foam it off like last time. Unfortunately it is an invitation for people to write things in it.

Yes that is a big problem. What have your workplace said about the situation as I'm sure all the big wigs will be in the same position?

The HSE are very positive on dust extraction (filtered) or dust suppression now. PPE is for an exceptional task only now. Net result should be minimal dust.

I would suggest the more people report it to the hse the quicker they will visit site. If they are causing serious dust in there without extraction/suppression they will be shut down there and then.
