Dump Valves

Featured Replies

Help please.

I here some of you have the Dump valve replaced while at Jabba, should I do the same and why and how much are they.

Cheers

Pete

Pete,

the standard DV is prone to failure and this would cause your car to have no boost.

The Bailey DV30 costs

or get a Forge 007 (I think) adn run it in reverse.

Is that what the Impreza boys do ?.............must admit to liking the sound ..........but not sure I could stand it all the time ...........plus probably a bit too old for that sort of thing ..................or am I :D

Hey Pete!

Lookin good at RPM.

Do Scoobys have recircs or BOVs? Probably recircs as I never hear the "pstsh" when any go by. So I suppose if they have a Forge they reverse em.

If you like the sound would can either get a CAI (cold air induction) kit and that would let you hear the DV venting in the airbox. Or you can mod the original airbox...there's a guide on the 1.8t web site....think you basically cut holes in the airbox.

Also depend on how loud a noise you want.....I have a Dynatwist CAI and the sound is quite subtle whereas DaveU has an AD one and it's louder. Jon has a Dynatwist and Des an ABD so you may already have heard the difference...actually guess not the Dynatwist as Jon's exhaust probabyl drowned it out.;)

Cheers.

Adrian.

The factory-fit DV is notoriously prone to failure - When Mike changed mine he found it had a split diaphragm, so wasn't holding much boost anyway.

The Bailey DV is a much more solid affair, with an aluminium body in a fetching range of colours (pity it's hidden under the engine cover). It's worth the extra money just for peace of mind - I'd have been tempted to get one even without the remap.

It is definately worth swapping the DV -- if only for peace of mind, the standard part is crap -- we are always changing them - and for the price - it is worth doing -- and as others have said you can always doo other mods to get louder if you wish.

The Scoobs attending RPM had BOVs, and you could certainly hear them :D

Even a Forge in reverse will be very quiet. An induction kit will allow you to hear it a little more, but it will never be loud.

Whoah. Resurrecting a 2 year old thread. Now THAT's dedication to the archives.

couldn`t you just fit the dv froma leon cupraR or audi tt 225 instead or do they have the same dv as a vRS/1.8T?

Dump valves !!! Yuk!! Pointless and stupid !!!

:orb_no_no IMO of course :rofl::rofl:

Not really Robbo! They have a purpose, to stop the turbo stalling, but pretty much abused on Road cars thanks to Max Muppet idiots with 5 turbos and Coswoofs!

They usually have the same 710N dv.I've noticed some Octavia VRS [2004-2005] models, with a 710P dv though..IMO all these plastic BOSCH are the same :thumbdwn: .
