vvt module

Featured Replies

does the 1.8t have this module then

Yes

not all 1.8T ,VRS has ,nonVRS like mine doesn;t

I thought it did but someone on this forum said the vrs doesnt have vvt. Think it was david8 maybe

It does. But as far as I know it's only used for better cold-start efficiency. There are threads on VWVortex about using it for more power but it's a negligible effect I think.

Can make a decent gain when used correctly

Not all 1.8t have it but Vrs does

So when is it used?

So when is it used?

On cold start, in conjunction with the SAI system.

On a cold start the pump pulls fresh air through the airbox, then blows it down the exhaust system via the combi valve on the head. At the same time the VVT activates, putting the valves into massive overlap mode and allowing unburnt fuel to pass down the exhaust. The unburnt fuel and fresh air then combine to cause a post-combustion event in the catalytic converter. Which forces the cat to heat up quickly, reducing emissions from the cold engine.

So with no SAI it's pointless?

So with no SAI it's pointless?

Not quite

A good mapper can exploit it, for power gains, VTEC YO !!!!
