THS Intercooler

Featured Replies

Hi all

I'm starting to spend some much needed TLC on my octavia vrs mk1 I've gone an bought myself a THS intercooler I know it's for the mk4 golf but I've read that it fits the octavia. Well I must say its a quality piece of kit an definitely worth the money I've spent the past few days getting it fitted a few hours here an there but getting things to line up isn't as neat as what I thought it would be.

So I have a few questions for anyone who has a bit more knowledge on these more then me seeing as this is my first intercooler install.

1. The throttle body pipe seems to turn a little to much towards the headlight it will go on but doesn't look right does looking right matter or is it just a good seal that is needed?

2. Is the pancake replacement pipe, I have the wheels off the floor an the pipe is about an inch away from the tyre would this be ok I'm hoping when I put the car back on the floor the wheels move out a bit.

I can't wait to get it all up an running just want to be safe an not sorry so any help would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

As long as it seals well it should be okay,

Aftermarket pancake pipes can rub the wheel, keep an eye on it!

I have a THS intercooler on my car, although I can't take the credit for fitting it. Seems like a decent piece of kit and I'm happy that it came with it. The pancake replacement pipe will not fit very well as the ARB droplink with smash into it. I'm not actually convinced that it will actually improve performance over the standard pancake pipe, as the volume is probably the same for both the standard and THS items.

Have a read of this:

I flogged my THS pipe in the end, as it came with a great big dent anyway. It belonged to Big Jase, but his photo has since disappeared.

Hi guys

Thanks for your replies I've finally fitted my THS intercooler an I must admit not happy with the overall fit this is def for a golf an will need some extra parts if u are fussy like me it does fit just could be a lot better! I have the new pancake pipe fitted an I must admit I think im gonna end up going back to the original it is too close to the tyre I have the car on axle stands so won't see what clearance I have till I remove the axle stands.

I hope it all works out ok it's a nice kit an using all the parts would make me happy I prefer the dual pass compared to the single just because the pipe work is all the same side an not running over the top of the engine. I will try an upload some pictures once I finished tomorrow. I'm hoping to get it booked into AMD technik once I've got it back together has anyone got any reviews on them heard some good an bad bits I'm after a full new exhaust system remap an coilovers :-)
