Low fuel warning

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Not a major concern, more of an observation I made today. I rarely, if ever run the car low on fuel.

Today it got down to the top of the red area and there was an indicated 45 mile range left. It took precisely 48.9 litres to fill to the first click and I hadn't consciously vented the tank, yet I had no low fuel light come on.

Exactly how low must it be?

Just below top red line. The bong catches me out a lot...

The Indicated 45 miles depends on the Average MPG being done by the time it shows.

You could continue as you were and maybe go 45 miles,  or 60 miles plus,

or 30 miles, depends how you drive.

When i fill the tank,

& then Vent it, it takes about 7 more litres.

(at present prices it takes needs another £10's worth when venting.)

Fair enough, obviously I wouldn't be relying on the warning to tell me to fuel up, I just felt It was past the point it should have is all, also I must have accidentally vented the tank, it was one of the rare times I used a pump on the passenger side so maybe the angle of the nozzle had something to do with it

If i am venting, its about 3 times i let the air out.

I think the most i have put in is 53 Litres with it showing 40 miles range.

Lovely MPG running on 100-102 ron.

Where did ya get the fuel George?

Mainland Europe @ reasonable prices.

Tesco Momentum 99 in the UK is Minimum 99 ron,

(so that can be 100 ron.)

& here for special days 102 ron at £67.50 for 25 litres.
