Hood moving at high speed

Featured Replies

I noticed in high speed the hood moves up and down very fast just like its gonna come off is that normal and what may cause it ?

Happens when just held by the safety catch. Push down on the bonnet and make sure it engages fully. Should make it appear solid with the rest of the car.  Check too for missing rubber stops, particularly the two at the front  (one each side of the lock), and check you also have a bonnet support post at each front corner of the valence plate onto which the bonnet sits.

Looks like you are missing some bits on the right hand side (guess yours in a LHD model?)

There should be adjustable stops on the ends of the slam panel too.

can you show me a image if you have one how it look likes ?

i will look in a scrap yard somewhere to find these little black rubber things they mount by glue or how ?

Poor photo (but it was to hand).  Look directly up from the fog light on the spam panel.

They are thread adjustable, with a black rubber cap

Hmm im pretty sure i have those there but i was worried about the ones at the side the small black ones , it can't go off right ? it would be scary :p

The "small black" caps just cover the mounting pins on the side which the bonnet release cable isn't mounted on.

With the bonnet closed, how much play is there at the front end?  If you can push it up/down, then that might suggest the mounts I referred too early need to be extended a bit.

And where the adjustable stops touch the bonnet, there are circular pieces of clear plastic to avoid damage to the paintwork. Check you have these as they may be missing if the bonnet has been resprayed.
