Brake wear indicator

Hi I'm new to the forum, recently got a Octavia vrs 2.0t 2006.

I've got the brake pad warning on, just wondering if it's right that there is only a sensor on the near side??

Check it yourself, mine showed up once or twice and the pad had years of wear left.

Alternatively my rear discs and lads were all absolutely knackered and the fronts were pretty bad too - yet no warning

Pads and discs are gone, outside pad didn't look to bad but the inner pads had worn more and down to the sensor. I was just curious as to why sensor only on one side.

All being well both sides should wear evenly so wear indicator just on one side should be enough.

If one side is wearing drastically more than the other you'll have a bigger issue with other symptoms anyway, pulling to one side, excessive hub heat, warped disc etc.

Did mine on Sat as well actually, so it's fresh in my mind, brake wear indicator came on last week, here's a comparison pic of old/new pad:

I tried activate it with vcds and the symbol will be on all the time.

If you have a look round the front you should be able to see the cable coming from one of the pads if you have it.

 

I know a few guys have disabled it anyway because it can be a bit temperamental,
