Skoda Fabia Greenline 2 - New ECU - boot opening oddities

Featured Replies

Bit of an odd one this, and I'd really appreciate some advice on it.

We've got a '61 plate Greenline 2 estate.

A little while ago the entire dash died, no speedo, or revs, no computer, etc.  We took it in, and they replaced the ECU, which has apparently fixed both this and another issue we had.

This has however lead to a new issue. The boot now only opens on a long keypress which also pops it open, but not on either the short press to just unlock it, or the general unlock all doors double key press on the fob.

The garage are claiming that this is due to the new ECU, and that it is standard on all new ECU units, and can't be changed.  I don't really believe this, and strongly suspect it's a case of 'computer says its all OK', but would like confirmation before I take this to Skoda.

Could someone just confirm that what I'm seeing is in no way standard behaviour?

Just to confirm,

What I'm expecting:

Unlock button:

Single press - unlocks drivers door

Double press - unlocks all doors, including boot

Long press - winds down electric windows

Boot button:

Single press - unlocks boot

Long press - unlocks and pops boot open

Lock button:

Single press - locks and deadlocks car

Double press - removes deadlock

Long press - winds up electric windows

What actually happens:

Unlock button:

Single press - unlocks drivers door

Double press - unlocks all doors, but not boot

Long press - winds down electric windows

Boot button:

Single press - does nothing

Long press - unlocks and pops boot open

Lock button:

Single press - locks and deadlocks car

Double press - removes deadlock

Long press - winds up electric windows

Cheers, and sorry it's ended up so long!

I have a 12 reg GLII and what you are describing is exactly how my key / car reacts to the key presses you describe

I assumed the requirement for long press was a security feature to prevent accidental unlocking / opening of the boot

from page 35 of manual

Unlocking the boot lid

Press the button 2 for about 1 second. Further information

I'm driving a 63plate greenline currently as a courtesy car. When the car's locked a single press of the boot buttons allows the boot to be opened via the release on the boot (unlocks it).
