I am driving a 2014 Octavia and I want to change the moment when the mirrors unfold.

The point is that due to my work I often have to open and close my car to get stuff and it's unnecessary to have the mirrors fold and unfold every time. Last week I drove a 2013 model and on that car I noticed the mirrors unfold only when starting the car or when turning on ignition(don't know exactly), but that's the behavior I would want for my car.

I know it's possible to change this and i have searched what to change with VCDS to accomplish this, but can't find it.

So my question is, does anyone know where and how to change this? And no, this can't be set in the infotainment menu

AFAIK the only thing you can do is turn off the mirror folding. There are no visible differences on coding between 2014 and 2013 cars, it is just a new door controller that unfolds the mirrors on unlocking. There is a setting for making it a long press of the remote to fold and unfold if you want to experiment, it is in the Adaptations on 09 I think.

From what i have read on a Dutch forum, it should be possible to change this behavior to my liking. I just can't find the correct settings and the persons who know how to do so won't tell me as it's there source of income.

I have indeed found the adaptions you mention, but that won't get me where I want. The short and long press won't make a difference for what I want, and I find that changing this setting only annoys me.

If you ever do find out let us know, as everyone I have spoken to about this, including some very knowledgeable German and Czech people (hint hint) say it is all to do with the revised door controllers.

 

You can turn off mirror unfolding completely, but you can't choose between ignition or unlock triggering the unfolding.

 

How about folding them in manually with the mirror switch? When you unlock the car they will remain folded

Nope, they're only available on the MY15 vRS, in the UK at least.

They are part of a very expensive option pack on the vRS; you have to order full leather with seat heating and electric seats. Im not mad on the full leather and can live without heated electric seats so id be giving them a miss

Sorry my mistake I forgot they had always been excluded from the vRS options. I was surprised when I was allowed to order them for my MK3 vRS
