console bush stuck

Featured Replies

Im half way through changing my console bushes to cupra versions. Passenger side is fully seated all the way back. But I cant get the driver's side all the way in. Its probably about 5mm from the rear. Will this matter?

Big hammer and plenty of lube

thats the reason I went polibush. Cheaper and easier to fit lol

You wont get the wishbone to fit in the front if its not pushed all the way in matey. How are you fitting them?

I had exactly the same problem, just resorted to more force. Got it in eventually.

Was using bolt. With plate over the rear. And washer on front. Just wouldnt budge. And stripped tge thread of the bolt. Managed to get the wishbone in fine. Using ratchet strap. Wish I had went poly bush. Lol. Just heard they can be a bit harsh.

Needs doing right. Clean every scrap of crud out of there followed by plenty of lubricating oil to stop alloy on alloy friction and spalling.

Im amazed people still fit the nasty cupra bush over powerflex items

It was clean and lubed up with the proper lube from seat.

I did look at powerflex. But the cupra ones seemed to ve the ones people recommend fitting.

I removed my Powerflex ones for a bit of peace and comfort, the vibration and noise was totally unbearable.

Which is really amazing. ;)

For NVH, it's got to be OEM, OEM like or the Cupra bushes. Nothing made of polyu is going to be as quiet.

Blowtorch, chisel and hammer or vice out

Repeat until it's out

Then sanding paper, plenty of grease then press in New Bush with vice
