engine fault code help needed

Featured Replies

Hi all,

2004 Octavia VRS estate, 87k on clock, stage 1 remap.

My engine management light came on on my way home from work last night. I called to my local garage this morning to see what is the fault code. He said it's the secondary air injection system, incorrect flow.

The car is booked in to the garage on Monday but I'd appreciate if any of you can shed any light on what the problem might be. My mechanic has seen it before but couldn't remember what the problem was the last time.

Possible Solutions

There are a few topics on this - the SAI pump rivets fail and it starts to split in two and leak. You can remove it and replace the rivets with small bolts to repair it.

Thanks for the quick replies. If it is the fuel pump relay would there be any difference to the engine running?

There is no obvious change to the way it is running.

Cheers for all the responses. Will see how it goes.

Light was reset this morning and I've done 170 miles today with no sign of it, but booked into garage Monday anyway so will let you know.

Hi all, thanks again for replies. Car has been fine since light was extinguished. Not that there was anything wrong before, so went into garage today and they didn't find anything. Guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Cheers.

Just to add I've done about 300 miles since resetting the light.

The pump is only active on startup anyway for a minute or so.  I wouldnt lose sleep over it!
