Unleashing the bhp!

Featured Replies

Right I've just got a de cat for my mk1 vrs wagon and have the standard exhaust fitted still and am going to keep the stock exhaust for a bit till the fund grows a bit more?

Does anybody no what I'll have to do the fit the de cat onto the stock exhaust and what size reducer I'll need??

Also just brought a FMIC and will be fitting that very soon is it a pig to fit on these and how much of the bumper am I going to have to cut away!?

Fanks dudes!

The de cat should be a straight swap if it's a mk4 golf platform one? No reducer. A tip too, make sure you fit a new genuine gasket as the one supplied with my Toyosport decat just perished away after a few weeks :(

Ok cool just thought as it's a de cat it wouldn't fit the stock exhaust but I'll do a trail fit soon?

The FMIC - depends on the kit. My Ebay Chinese one was a biatch to fit. The big brand ones usually go on with no issues.

My FMIC mission:

Its a toyo sports kit so hopefully will be a easy fit? Just need to cut the bumper to fit the FMIC now

Any ideas on power gains running stock ecu after fitting de cat and FMIC? Then once £££ is better I'll be getting stage 2 map and what power should I be running then anybody running this and what power you have?

I was on a stage 1 with 212bhp/225tq, when I added a decat and Fmic, went up to 225bhp/240tq. Once it was stage 2d, it was 240bhp/270tq :-)
