Hi all,new to the forum 

 

I've got the basic 2010 Fabia 1.2, 3 cyl HTP, 60ish BHP job.great little car,had it 18 months with 43k on the clock now.

We're thinking of buying a trailer tent,not a full caravan, but i am now inclined to think that the Fabia wont have the pulling or braking capability under load.Anybody have any thoughts,would be a bit gutted to have to upgrade as it were as the car is so economical and its pretty zesty for what it has under the bonnet;just think a little underpowered to fit a towbar and pull a trailer tent.Any thoughts?Many thanks

your V5 will tell you the max braked and unbraked towing capacity - remember this is trailer and load combined

I think your vehicles weights are Unbraked max 500 kg,  & Braked max 800 kg.

 

But check that on the V5 or the Plate on the car.

 

I think your car will tow that fine, you just drive according to what suits the vehicle and trailer within your legal limits.

& let your Insurer know you are fitting a tow bar.

Good point about the V5,I'll have a look.Obviously I'd be driving to the conditions and capabilities of the vehicle,it's the stength of clutch/brakes I'm needing to be sure of before i hook her up.She was bought for economy and reliability purposes plus the cheap insurance costs etc (which she's done admirably it has to be said).I've got a fair history with cars,we currently run the Fabia mainly for my wifes commuting and I use a Micra for pootling.I also have a restored/modified 1987 Celica ST162 for weekend fun .I Moderate over on the Celicaclub so I knew if there's any info needed then the place to go is the Owner's clubs  . I'll have a good check of the braked/unbraked models of trailers before I see what's what,so cheers for the friendly welcome and I'll let you know how I go.In the meantime any experiences with towing with the Skoda family dont be shy post them up!

Iv got the 1.2 12v 70hp.

I wouldnt hesitate pulling a little trailer as long as there isnt too much in the car.

With 5 adults, a full boot, then towing a trailer, i think youll wish you hadn't bothered.

Has the micra got any more ability?

There should be a plate on the bottom of the B post that will give you all the relevant weights you can tow.
