Removing bugs and tar

Featured Replies

Hello.

When I wash my car I always have a really hard time getting rid of all the bugs stuck mostly on the front of the car. Also, most of the time I find small areas with tar spots on the lower parts of the car - particularly on the side of the car.

Any good advice on how to remove these with less effort?

Best regards

Henriette

Wet the area where the bugs are and then lay a wet towel over them for a while...they will then wipe off

Alternatively, a pressure washer will see them off

As regard tar....two things you can do...spray with tar remover and wipe away after a few minutes.

I would then clay the car .....to complete the process

A dedicated tar remover will get rid of the tar spots, a pre soak with APC (All purpose cleaner) will help shift bugs when you wash and rinse. Depends on how much your in to your cleaning on how much you want to spend. Of the shelf autoglym tar remover will do the job, as will Tesco's Daisy APC diluted 10/1 (water/apc). No more than £5 for both. Or look at some of the detailing sites others use, I use Clean Your Car (CYC) a lot and have a massive array of products for you to browse.

Ive just purchased Sonax tar remover which is spray-on in a can, very easy and top results so I can recommend it.

I use Astonish insect and tar remover, good enough for me

I use any old spray glass cleaner for bugs then power wash of, then wash the whole car. As for tar, i'm still going through all the brands to find one that i like.

Tardis melts tar very effectively

I use autoglym tar remover.

Auto Finesse Citrus Power and a detailing brush works well for me
