Out of date drivers manual with new car

Featured Replies

I just took delivery of my new vRS TDI on Saturday and once I was home spent a little time familiarising myself with the less obvious features with the help of the handbook.

When I got to the Driver Information System, however, I found the description in the manual didn't match my car.  On page 30, it talks about buttons A and B on the right hand stalk.  Button B is used to switch between the different memories (i.e. From start, since refuel, long-term) - but my car definitely hasn't got a button B.  After a bit of trial and error I found that a double press on the wheel D did the same thing but I can't see this documented.  I haven't got a Button A either.

I wonder - is this something that's changed very recently?   Even the latest online versions of the manual still don't match my car.

It doesn't really matter - I just wondered if anyone else had noticed this?

There shoudn't be any buttons on the right stalk on a vRS as the maxidot is controlled from the MFSW.....

The manual just covers all Octavia's it's not version specific.

I found this out with my new Superb, the handbook which is current version, states the same as above, but I then found it works from the steering wheel :)

As mentioned above I think they are generic handbooks

At least your version was in English. When I took delivery of my Octy 2 the handbook was in Slavic.

Every car i've ever owned has come with a generic owners manual.....

I think in the lower spec versions it's possible to upgrade to the maxidot without upgrading to the multi-function steering wheel. In this instance you would have buttons A and B. My manual has similar descriptions with A and B (on the stalk) and C and D (on the steering wheel), and it says press A or C for one thing and B or D for the other. So, as mentioned by others, all bases covered.

In my experiance they're also not very accurate. Having been caught out by the admundsen manual I'm surprised Skodas manuals aren't prefaced with

"The following manual is strictly for entertainment purposes"
