Lighter wheels

Featured Replies

Dealer won't do anything about my wheels but its understandable. Thinking of taking them off and running something lighter then use them just for winter. What are the options? I want something light but still strong. Don't want anything that easily buckles.

Racing wheels then.

The Gigaro with tyre on are not particularly heavy @ 19.5 kg. for a good robust wheel for road use.

& you can pick up a used set with tyres for around £450

There are plenty of Racing & Track wheels you just splash the cash.

(I like the Superturismo GT's for looks and as a cheaper option.)

Or you can find some After Market ones that are not necessarily much lighter, or more or equally as robust for potholed roads.

I would keep the Gigaro 17's you have for the Summer. Maybe refurbish or change the colour.

& get a set of 16's for the Winter with suitable tyres fitted.

Go for RALLY wheels, stay away from racing wheels - rally ones will give you light but sturdy

Jabozuma,

Any recent pics of your Option Wheels on the car?  please.   What colour are they now?

The same as they were, cheap crap, Wolfrace Pro-Lite or something but the difference in handling was noticeable. They are 2.82 kg lighter than gigaros :D

They are white, chipped here and there, badly repaired by previous owners. rim edge is painted with something looking like red, then black nail varnish lol

Sorry I meant rally wheels too - I bought a set of Braids because even though I liked the Gigaros a lot they were too heavy for my liking.

Gigaros are 10.6kilos each when the Braid comes to 7.8kilos and are very tough (tarmac and gravel use) - I could have gone for the lighter ones made out of magnesium but I was told not to used them on city roads, too sensitive and good only for track use plus very expensive.

Tarmac and gravel wheels are different types - gravel would be a better choice I think if you want go well sturdy.

If the state of your local roads is fine tarmac should be fine :)

i.e not West Yorkshire :giggle:

Worried as to the number of Tour De France riders that will be maimed or killed by our potholes.

Set of Oz Superturismo wheels up for sale in the classifieds at a very good price.

Have been tempted by these before.

I really like those, if you dont mind me asking, is there a UK dealer, and how much i would be looking at roughly for 4?

If you wait a bit you could buy them off me - I re-ordered them in a darker color and in a wider offset. Yeah I know I'm picky....  :( The ones pictured are ET32

Hey 32K

How much and would they have the clearance for some Brembo calipers underneath do you think? ;)

PM SENT! :)

When they will be available I will sell them for 800Euros (roughly 600pounds) - only one has two small marks on the lip, the rest are immaculate and have done only 1.500khm - Clearance should be more than enough for a set of Brembos.

I want some Buddy Club P1's I think. At £130 a corner, absolute bargain. And less than 6kgs a wheel.

Still tempted to go for a set of Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's but not sure on what width. Thinking of fitting a 215 tyre to them and also sticking 15mm spacers on all round.
