Not sure if I'm 100% on this but, I did notice that when the Octty comes into turbo at 2500rpm , at about 3300 is kinda flattens out, then at 4200rpm 'ish, itl put you back in your seat again?

In my experience, in stock form it should pull progressively from about 2500rpm to the redline. If mapped, depends on map, could be it pulls linearly or spikes first then slowly drops off. In any case a situation in which it pulls, then has a flatspot, then pulls again is not good.

This could also be a sticky turbo vane problem.

Not mapped, turbo is "fine" according to VW

I would be inclined to just try the actuator rod with your finger through its range of motion for stickyness. You could also connect it to vcds and go for a drive whilst measuring blocks (either use an assistant or record the data to look at later). That way you will see if the requested boost is the same as the delivered boost, if not then the turbo could be sticky and require cleaning. Also it will give you a good opportunity for a quick scan to see if you have any recorded faults.

 

Personally I would just clean the turbo and EGR and see if that make a difference.

Could be, but I thought the MK2 didn't have variable vanes to get stuck?

It depends on what engine the OP has, as he does not say in his original post I assumed he had a 1.9 pd engine with the variable vanes.

TBH that doesn't sound normal; mine never did that pre or post map; just pulls cleanly from idle to redline. Have you changed the plugs; fuel filter or coil packs?

Replace the coils as a set of four.

 

Replacing one may cause others to fail; or may be difficult finding which one is the faulty coil.

Hah yeah I meant buying all four, getting the Uprated red ones
