Hi

I need a few pointers as to where to start looking on my Fabia. Its a 2001/2 fabia 1.4 MPi Comfort (AQW).

I've just completed a service on it and this afternoon I was getting ready to park when it started to behave oddly. I was idling and the rev counter was steady when the needle started to jump up and down. I tried to move off, but it felt really sluggish and I thought it was going to cut out. I turned the engine off, turned the key again and carried on as normal.

A friend has suggested that it is 'hunting'? It has some kind of problem with airflow?

Any ideas/suggestions eagerly anticipated.

Idle is lumpy on the mpi, it's been suggested that it's due to the size of the air intake as a number of people have reported things are a lot better if more air is allowed in, this may have been due to trying to get an ancient (well 1960's) engine through more modern emissions regs. Before you go any further, did it do it again?

Thanks for the reply.

I've driven it quite a bit today and on start up, the needle which normally is rock solid (excluding yesterdays incident) at the 10 mark was jumping above that slightly for a minute or two after starting up. It disappeared as soon as I pulled away and everything has been normal since.
