Fitting new carpet

Featured Replies

Hi, I am looking to change the carpet to one from the bora as mine is horribly dirty and nigh on impossible to clean. What I want to know is can I change the carpet on my own? Im a complete noob and not that great at other car related stuff.

Alternatively anybody willing to fit? I dont mind paying?

Cheers

Only you can answer that question.

Fairly straight forward jobs.

You will need to remove the seats and sill trims, centre consul ,seat belts and so on.

Do you think you can do it?

Use the search, plenty of people have done it, it is quiet straight forward to do, there is a guide how to do it, give it a go, you will probably surprise yourself [emoji106]

What sort of tools will I need to do it?

Took me an hour and I've never changed a car's carpet before but I did read up on it before hand...

2 bits of plastic trim covering the front seat runners with small torx screws and 2 bolts at the front 10mm I think once they're all off just slide the seat all the way back and it will fall out of the side runners so you can just lift out.

Back seats are even easier... the bases just pull forward then flip forward push the hooks together and they will pop out. Once they're out you pull the lever on the backs and fold flat then if you look at the far side of each there is a hole with a clamp over a bolt which you hammer back with a flat head screw driver till it releases. then pull the back upright and wiggle at an angle to get the centre bolt out... Same either side.

Pull all the door rubbers up to get the plastic trims off the two side pillars have screws at the top just under the seat belt loop.

pull rear ash tray out to reveal screws to handbrake surround then that just pulls out.

Need to take the front ash tray out to real the screws for the gear stick surround which also lifts out after fighting with the handbrake... As when you pull it forward to release you can't get it out as the handbrake blocks it, can be done if you pull from an angle.

Need to take off bonnet release catch which is two screws, need a torch to see them properly, also there are side panels either side with pull out tabs that hide screws

That's about it I think... There is a steering colum support bracket that is revealed when you take the lower centre console off that gets in the way, I just cut a line in the carpet straight up as you can't see it when it's fitted

Very good description of the job. I didnt remove the back seats though only the bases as the carpet doesnt go up that far.
